Keeping Our Learning Community Safe

School Emergency Program

Every year in our schools, we conduct Fire Drills in the spring and fall, a Lockdown Drill, Shelter In Place Drill and Hold and Secure Drill.

These Drills are important as they give members of our Learning Community an idea of what will happen in the event of an emergency situation, helping to reduce anxiety and ensuring students and staff know how to respond.

Please read our Guide for Students and Parents on our School Emergency Program for more information.

Fair Notice Letter

Every year, all schools in the Wetaskiwin School Division share with families our Fair Notice Letter. This letter informs you that as a school system, we have a policy that requires schools to complete a "risk assessment" in all cases where a student makes a significant threat to harm themselves or others. As a learning community, we are giving fair notice that we will not accept "no response" to a serious threat or high-risk behaviour.

Please read our Fair Notice Letter that is also included in our August/September Newsletter found in the Newsletters section of our school website.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to school staff with any questions that you may have.
