Accidents / Illness at School

All accidents must be immediately reported to the school office. Students who have been involved in an accident will be given care and parents/guardians will be notified.

Seriously injured students will be taken to the Wetaskiwin Hospital by ambulance if necessary. The infirmary is located in the General Office.

If a student is feeling ill, a staff member will send the student to the infirmary where they may stay until feeling better. If necessary, the student may phone home so that they may leave.

We encourage parents to keep their children home when they are sick. Should your child be ill they may catch up when they return to school – please request homework only if it will be completed and returned.

Administration of Medication

Students are not permitted to bring medications with them to school to self-medicate. If your child requires medication during the day, you will be required to supply the school with a form signed by your doctor.

These forms are available online (www.wrps11.ca – Documents 315-1 or 315-2) or at the school. A staff member(s) will be assigned to monitor the administration of the medication and store the medication unless other arrangements have been made with school administration.
