We are excited to share with you several pieces of news regarding our school.
Working on Literacy and Numeracy
In response to recently released funds from Alberta Education, WRPS is able to set up and provide additive support for students in Grade 2 and 3 that have been identified to have been affected by learning disruptions.
WRPS schools have developed plans to further address identified students' needs. Staff will have further opportunity to access teaching resources and additional supports to specifically address targeted areas.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in an intervention program through one-on-one sessions or small groups in numeracy/literacy. This will provide extra support for literacy and numeracy instruction.
At QES, Mrs. Robins and Mrs. Baehler will be working with both the whole class and small groups of students in grades 1-5 with a focus on grade 2 and 3 beginning the week of November 8.
We would like to welcome Ms. MacLeod to the office staff as Acting Vice-Principal from now until Christmas Break, while we also welcome Mrs. Baehler to the role of Early Education and Kindergarten Inclusion Coach. Mrs. Baehler will be working with the Teaching Staff, Support Staff and Multidisciplinary Team to support the excellent learning opportunities in our Early Education and Kindergarten programs. We also welcome Ms. Angie Ganley to our Early Education Program as an Educational Assistant, and Mrs. Lori Hudacek to grades 5-8 until Christmas Break.
Quarter 1 is Complete!
November 5 marks the end of Quarter One, and brings with it the first of four reporting periods for our students.
Parents/Guardians and students can log into their PowerSchool account to check their Q1 marks and comments which have been finalized as of 4 PM on November 5.
We encourage all parents/guardians to reach out to their child’s teachers with any questions they may have.
A reminder that our November School Council meeting is Wednesday, November 10 at 6:30 via Google Meet. The link can be found by clicking the calendar event on our website (www.queene.ca)
Crosswalk and Bus Safety
We would like to remind parents to not park in the bus lane for pick-up/drop-off at anytime during the school day and prior to school beginning and ending. We also remind students and parents to use the crosswalks when crossing the street to maintain safety for all.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions that you may have.
Mr. Chris Kirwan
